How to Use the Pantone to CMYK Converter
1. Enter a Pantone Code
Type a Pantone code into the input field. The tool accepts a variety of formats, you can enter just the number and suffix (e.g., 186 C), or the full name (e.g., PANTONE 485 C). The converter normalizes your input automatically, so you don’t need to worry about exact capitalization or spacing.
2. Click Convert
Press the Convert button or hit Enter on your keyboard. The tool will search its Pantone library for an exact or closest match. The matched Pantone name and match type (Exact or Closest) will appear in the result panel.
3. Read the CMYK Output
Once matched, the CMYK breakdown is displayed as percentage values for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). These values are the standard ink percentages used in professional print workflows. The color swatch updates to show the corresponding HEX color alongside the HEX and RGB readings.
4. Copy CMYK or HEX Values
Use the Copy CMYK button to copy the CMYK string directly to your clipboard, ready to paste into Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or any other design application. Use Copy HEX to grab the web-equivalent hex value instead.
5. Use the Quick Pantone Samples List
On the right side of the tool, a curated list of common Pantone colors is shown. Click any item in the list to instantly load that color’s data into the converter — useful for quickly browsing standard brand colors without typing.
6. Reset
Click the Reset button to clear all results and start fresh with a new Pantone code.
